The ID-1 and ID800 are definitly not repeater gear. The ID-1 tx has supurious emmisions down only -50 db and ID800 only -60db. A good repeater tx would be down at least 80 db. Also the DC to light receivers means no front end.
With heat sinks I would want additional cooling even though they are operated at half power. The small heat sinks are still not what one wants for these transmitters. Looks like DStar was worked on primarly by software pukes...some one who can turn on a PC and peck on a keyboard. 73, ron, n9ee/r
