I use Acronis at work. We have it installed on some windows servers for
continual backups. We also created an acronis CD that you boot the system on
using a linux live cd. Then you can make an image of the computer. While I
have not tried it on a linux box, I would think that would work simply
because Acronis makes bit images and does not really care what is actually
on the hard drive. I have done this on DOS all the way up to server 2003
with out issue. I can try it on a linux box this weekend if you would like
to make sure it works. I am thinking of making a image of our centos box
prior to moving it to the new location anyway.

Subject: [dstar_digital] Backup Befuddled

I know that it's really simple for you LINUX Gurus, but while I'm
learning, I'm running out of reading time. Here's the situation.

I also would like to create a backup or self restoring image of the
Gateway Computer on DVD. I've read enough MONDO stuff to gag a
maggot, tried to install and run MONDO only to learn that there are a
bunch of other programs that must be installed for it to operate
under CentOS.

Okay, abort on MONDO and go for ACRONIS

I go to the ACRONIS Site to find what I need, and when I finally
find "ACRONIS True Image Agent for LINUX" I find that CentOS is not
listed as oneof the operating systems.

Can someone please guide me to and through what I need and need to do?

Contact offline might be best. E-mail is wa3pnt at w7din.org

Thanks for any help (cause I really need it).

George
