I think the whole Dstar thing needs a BETA release rather than the current ALPHA that it most definatley is at the moment. Leading eadge technology rather than the current bleeding edge.
There were 2 hams using a Dstar repeater in the UK yesterday whilst confirming with each other (via and analogue repeater) that each others over had started adn was begin broadcast through the Dstar repeater. That really should not need to be the case. In addition to some competition from a manufacturers perspective, Icon need to design out the rediculous design flaws in the current range and bring the prices inline with what they should be for the quality of radio they provide. The need to have to use the 2820 as a remote heand radio if using the GPS and antenna and the inability of being able to use the windows software if using an external mic on the IC92 being just 2 of the myriad of thoughless design errors that exist in the current releases. --- In [email protected], "Michael Carey" <michaelcare...@...> wrote: > > I would like to see a black box 2/70 and possibly 23cm DV/DD rig that > is controlled via USB with front end software that is PC/linux based. > Small 12v car based PC's and 7" touch screens are getting cheap and > readily available.
