Hi, Artie

The answer is "A" - everything goes through.

According to some of the guys who have "taken D-STAR apart" (Robin AA4RC,
Pete AE54PL), the DV (digital voice) signal has the low-speed data
interleaved. Roughly translated, it's a little voice, then a little data,
then back to voice, with some other "overhead" thrown in now and then. It
would be difficult, I suppose, to separate them.

So it all passes right through the repeater (and is also good on simplex).

[Sales pitch ON] If you'd like to know more about how D-STAR is
constructed, Robin gave a detailed talk at last year's Dayton D-STAR forum.
There's a clip of it on my web site:

The whole thing, several other D-STAR presentations at the forum, and the
Friday night meeting (mostly fun stuff, but you get to meet more of the
people who are moving D-STAR forward) is on the DVD - just $15 [sales pitch
OFF].
