You don't need a static IP. But an IP that doesn't change very often is a good thing. Having a static IP makes it easier for management purposes ... for VPN tunnel, ssh, etc. As for the WRT52GS device: will it allow you to set the net mask on the trusted side to /8? That is: 255.0.0.0 A lot of the inexpensive home/consumer firewall routers don't (properly) support the 10.0.0.0/8 network you need on the trusted ports. Bob W1QA
