If you set your gps to transmit and put a string in your transmit msg for gps
it will go onto the net through your local gateway and you can see it on any
aprs web site such as aprs.fi.

Here is a link to the page that calculates your string to put into the msg line.

  Hi everyone,

Ok , I have SLOWLY moved forward with DSTAR, hewre is where I am so
  far.

  Still on IC-91AD.

I have added an external antenna for mobile use.

I have started the integration of an older GPS (Garmin GPS45) for use in the
  jeep with DSTAR.

I am able to see on the radio that I am connected, as it gives me
  coordinates in the position screen.

  So here are the questions,

  1) how do I know that I am actually transmitting the GPS data?

  2) Is there a map (similar to APRS) where I can see in "real time" my
  position?

  3) Are there other items that I need to make this all work?

  Thanks!!
