Gene, I have been using two BD35's for a long time now, both with analog FM as well as with D-STAR, and it works fine. I usually set the HT to low power, and then let the BD35 make the juice. Range depends on antenna, height and so on, but it should do at least 50 miles. Cheers, Fred PA4YBR/KA4YBR
