Not all sets seem to be affected. I had an inverted display
and striations on the display as alternative failure modes.
The most common failure mode I observed was a blank display,
but the most common one that Icom UK say they saw on my set
was the display inversion.

You need to power-cycle the set to recover. That always
worked for me.

As far as I can tell the Icom fix involved both extra bypass
caps and extra shielding being fitted internally.
