Good morning!

First of all - welcome to DSTAR! I know you will enjoy the mode - I have been
active in it since Dayton (where I purchased my radio) and love it!

While I have not owned the 800H, I did compare the two before I purchased the
880H. Here are a couple of the items that swung me towards the 880:

1) Number of memories are significantly more (and the more the better with
DSTAR)

2) Third generation of DSTAR interface within the radio (much easier to
program / use on the fly, including one button call programming).

3) Display - I just liked the 880H display more than the 800.

4) Free software to program it. (While the software is not real intuitive, it
does work).

Overall, I have been extremely happy with the 880H. With that said, though, I
think the 800 would work just as well on DSTAR and analog - you really can't go
wrong!

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, just let me know.
