Depends on your point of view.  Anything dangling off the side of the 
radio is somewhat impractical for me, especially if I used an 
external mic as well.  It's a pity that the Icom radios don't support 
Bluetooth, as this would have been perfect for my needs (and I 
already have suitable GPS hardware).
