Tried yesterday. Got good DSTAR comms through MDD on ground but unsuccesful during ascent in plane and descent under canopy. Used 5 watts.
Heard only first beep after my numerous airborne transmissions, no second beep and no voice signals. Tried repeatedly from about 12500 to 5000 ft AGL. Once on the ground I was able to work stations through the MDD repeater. Any ideas? I am puzzled. Here is some APRS data from the two jumps: http://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=AF6IM-7 Same HT (IC 91AD) worked fine for numerous analog FM 2 meter QSOs on the second jump yesterday. Had good comms all the way up and down. Will try again in a week or two. 73 Mark
