I agree Dave.  Horses for courses here.  I like callsign routing for 
that quick call to someone, and as you say, linking is good for 
ragchews, roundtables and nets.

The key is understanding all the options and knowing which is the 
best to use, when, and why.  And when you call, it's best to announce 
which option you're using too.
