I use an amp with a 91AD in mobile and base setups. Using an amp with the 91AD on 500mw power allows both the 91AD and the amp to run well below max power reducing heat in both. I have also used several other 2 meter amps such as RF concepts, Radio Shack and Daiwa. All work equally well and produce 18 -20+ watts out with the 500mw input.
Although not stated in their manuals all the 2 meter amps I've used work equally well on digital and analog mode. I consider an amp a saving grace for the 91AD with it's high power heat problem.
