Works really slick. UR=KD5XB will reach Earl - IF - KD5XB has registered in the US Trust Server Gateway system AND the Gateway at the Calling Repeater system has been updated with the ip address that Earl is residing at AND the IP at both ends is current (dynamic IP may take a while when they renew).
When Earl moves from one repeater to another it may take 1/2 hour for the calling station to get updated. I usually use / routing to go to the repeater. I announce that I am calling from /K5CTX C so the station on the far end can put /K5CTX C in their UR slot. very reliable - works well and doesn't tie up 20 repeaters for a one on one chat as in Dplus and reflectors. (NOT knocking Dplus - works GREAT for linking repeaters - each has it's place). steve Earl Needham wrote: > Re: call sign routing -- it sounds to me like the routing that was envisioned > for AX.25 packet radio -- which never quite happened. > > 7 3 > Earl > -- Ham Radio Spoken Here !!!
