I would suggest using Brian Roode's Backup script, as it has been tested to restore and backup and upgrade failed gateways.

Roode' Subject: [DStar-Gateway] Registration issue, Database Issue Morning Louis, and others.... Let me start off with the following item that caught my eye while working on K1XC this morning while trying to figure out what is going on with the Database error issue that some of you are hearing about.... I was asked to look over K1XC and see if I can figure out what is going on with it's Database... First off the batting plate is this one: [W4/G7FB ] [2010-02-13 04:22] [Mat] It took me for a double take, as this is a registered person, but no terminals added. SO for now, the database is clean.... We are going to correct the issue and get with the UK Admin Team and get his call registered over there... Note: We need to remind our recipical friends that IF they do come over here, and they have already signed up with a DSTAR GW with their HOME CALL SIGN, they will need to use it here, BUT in voice sign with the stroke. Dstar is not up to date enough to handle a callsign in recipical format. The SLANT BAR has a specific meaning in the first slot. Anything else and it will error out. Looking over several other systems in Florida, they all seem to be in good order.. So not to alarm anyone, the database clean up is working. Still some more things to fix, but it is working. DATABASE BACKUPS: Admins, there is a simpler way to do a database back up, the G2 CD-ROM has the file needed, which can be put onto your gw, and ran from the gateway. We have talk about this in the past, and probably bears talking about it again. Go to the following link: http://wiki.kj4byi.org/index.php/Gateway_Backup There you read up on doing database backups. It is a plain and as simple as it gets. Happy Easter and remember, Thank your Gateway ADMINS. Comment: Even though, there are countless thanks going out to NJ6N, and the DSTAR TRUST TEAM, they are working their butts off for us, trying to get the network back on track. It is going to take some give here and there, but trust me, they are working there butts off on their own time clock, and some people just don't understand that... Please, bare with us all (ADMINS and TRUST TEAM) and those who do provide background support to other admins, we are freely working on making DSTAR top notch. Evans F. Mitchell KD4EFM / WQFK-894 Fla. It has actually been going on for some time. In the past I would just have to restart services or reboot and I would be good for a while. Now I get one registration and that's it before I have to do it again. I also have complaints from users attempting to complete registrations. I suspect a db issue, but am really hesitant to mess with it due to the world wide sync. Are there reorg tools out there? Any ideas? More buffers? More swap? Everything is completely up to date: OS, GW, DPLUS I have searched this forum every way I could think of to search and found nothing. Thanks for any help. 73 Louis KG4QPQ for K1XC and W4PLB
