They have to be careful about this. The ARRL Directory has been used as a legal document in many court cases against coordination bodies.

Picking up info from anywhere OTHER than the coordination body and publishing it, can lead to all sorts of problems later.

The appropriate way for ARRL to "fix" the problem is to provide "incentive" in this format...

"If you don't provide all the information to fill ALL the fields in our DB, your State/area won't be published at all."

Harsh, but it'd work...

But it would just CRUSH the few volunteers in areas that haven't caught up yet to modern DB technology to track their coordination activities. There would be a lot of empty pages that year...

A much better way would be to provide a centralized, powerful, coordination database so good that everyone would want to use it. (I'm not holding my breath on that one.)
