Actually you need to be in GPS A mode to be seen on J-findU or any aprs-is
server
network.

GPS G mode, will allow any dstar gps user to track you (i.e.: my 2820 will
show where
your at in relation to my position)

GPS A mode, this will send your GPS information through the gateway, by way
of DSTARMonitor and the javaprasd demons we have installed on MOST gateways.

Now, my take on this is, you run G or A mode through a DVAP connected
directly
to a reflector, your GPS data stream will still go out, but there is no
middle man way
to decode your A mode, versus your G mode. (other then D-Rats)

So, test the train of thought here... talk through a local gateway when you
have
a chance to, look on dstarusers.org and see if your posit posted. Now, try
the
same through your DVAP, I think your going to find that the GPS stream has
to be captured via a DPRS NODE, or via RF through and actual gateway....

I think your going to find this to be true as stated, since there is no
porting
from the DVAP or dplus, to the DSTARMonitor, they are two separate tools
in the dstar tool box.

NOT SAYING IT WANT HAPPEN, but as of this email, I do not have dplus
ported to DSTARMonitor, therefore, your objective is not going to take place
at this time. Robin makes a tweak to Dplus to somehow port the GPS$ to
the DSTARMonitor daemon, then your objective will take place, again, using
the GPS-A mode.

Per the ICOM book, GPS G mode was never meant to be used as the DPRS
beacon, hence, GPS-A mode, for APRS.

Hope this helps you out a little more.... Good Luck

Have you used the dprs calculator to set your gps message? That's probably
the issue.

Running an IC-92AD with the GPS mic and have been unable to have my position
reported on J-FindU. I have the GPS enabled and it has a lock and I'm able
to see my current lat/long in the menu. I'm using a DVAP so assume it may be
a setting I'm missing there? Using GPS mode, not GPS-A.
