There is another option besides the ICOM software and cable -- RT Systems sells their WCSD880 software for use with a cable that plugs into the speaker jack and supports cloning mode. If you have the cable already, the software can be downloaded for US $25. As Ted W1GRI points out, you can build or purchase a serial cable for this purpose very cheaply. But for USB, RT Systems want you to get their USB cable, and they charge $49 for the software and USB cable.
I personally prefer RT System's screens for managing D-Star radio settings and memories, but it's a little slow to copy out and clone back the entire radio's memory each time, and you cannot use this approach to do PC control of the radio or send slow speed data. But you have two choices for programming software. One can program the 880H manually by following the manual to the LETTER, but make no errors. George, N4DLR
