Yes, I like this "standardized" idea. During the TechDay, I saw that PostgreSQL has some DTrace probes, and in "DTrace for web 2.0" session, we use PID and c++filt to find out dispatch_command() and trace its argument. If there are any USDT probes there, then the observation would be much easier.
