Hi Ken,

You're asking a question about the specifics of particular application. You'll
probably have better luck asking on a forum dedicated to Firefox support. That
said, DTrace almost certainly provides the facilities you'd need to
investigate the problem today. You can start your investigation a couple of
ways:

        look at what resources are consumed when you open a new tab
        see what functions are being called most frequently
        see where firefox is spending its time
