No need - you can pretty much install Linux applications anywhere that takes 
your fancy.
Just get your path right for the binary and hack your /etc/ld.so.conf (followed 
with ldconfig) to point to your libs if need be.
(thanks to Brad for enlightening me on that one)
If all else fails just compile again passing configure the usbkey path
as the prefix.   You'll just have to get udev or whatever you use to
stick to that same path!
