The Whole lets start a dedicated website and use major domo / mailman for email or use google groups instead has been brought up lots of times in the history of the lug and all attempts to shift it have failed.
So to be honest Stoma as noble as your offer sounds it is pointless, the moment you invest the time to set the solution up, X number of members of the LUG would voice their opinion that they weren't happy with it, and would have nothing to do with it, this is of course after the fact, and no doubt also after we had put the decision to the vote in which less than 10% of the LUG voted, but of the 10% that had voted there was a majority vote to shift the LUG from the Yahoo group. I subscribe to tech at openBSD and they use a yahoo group, and it works just fine, just don't post a stupid question or if you do please ensure you wear your flame retardent underwear. With regards to the golden sun Linux user group. There is a linux user group called (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Linux-middleeast/ ). Which is run by a linux consultancy called golden sun. At the end of every post there was a signature that stated - linux in the middle east is sponsored by Golden Sun. There were a few people that disliked the signature and when we asked for its removal we were told no, so we broke away, Joseph John created the dubaiLUG and here we are today.
