If you want to use thunderbird as your final application then I
recommend that you install mozilla suite and migrate to mozilla prior
to thunderbird due to the large amount of email that you have. Alot of
people have trouble doing the migration direct to thunderbird as
thunderbird does not always migrate all of the email and folders, I
have only seen this happen on mail boxes that are large than 2gb. I
experienced the same migration headache when I first did the migration
which was over 18 months ago, I spoke to people at this years gitex
who experienced the same headache and advised them to use the mozilla
- thunderbird migration path, and this resolved the migration head
ache. Brad and I were talking about thunderbird and large email at
our last informal LUG meeting. Brad (like me) uses thunderbird and
has close to 4gb of email data in his thunderbird. If brad receives
an email whilst typing another email the application freezes for up to
7 seconds whilst thunderbird resolves brads email rules.
