In a class room environment, local apps capability is something you'll 
probably want to stay away from buddy. As a matter of fact you'll 
probably want to pull out the HDD's of the clients itself.

Well I'll give you that admin of the sun ray server might be simpler 
which is basically due to the software. You could still look at running 
the same LTSP/software configuration on the sun ray server with linux 
loaded rather than solaris. Then the question would be...why purchase 
solaris for an LTSP installation?

Agree with you on the person moving on thing, however I would again 
differ with you on the point of commercial support that will support 
entire hardware and software combination. Ofcourse the large vendor's 
part is true. Definitely no one close to the size of sun.
