Can I use SLES 9 for free if I don't want their support? If yes, is there any person/website from whom/whch I can order the CDs ?

HI Nadeem,
you can of course download SLES from download.novell.com and install.
This is a full working copy of SLES except that you cannot perform any
of the system updates. Unless you register, in order to register you
need to pay. For your basic sles x86 with upto two processors it will
cost $350.00
You can buy the sles directly from the www.novell.com or you can go to
one of their resellers and buy a copy. There are lots of novell
resellers so rather than mention a few and offend others I will advise
you to go and check the novell.com website and it will provide you
with all of the contact details for the Novell silver and above
partners in the region. Whom shall be happy to sell you some SLES.
You are technically not allowed to use SLES for free. The
downloadable copy will not expire however should you choose to install
you will just never be able to update it... Unless of course you pay
in which case see above paragraph :)
daN
Thanks for the inputs. $350 is a bit steep for home use :-) Looks like I'll stick to the professional version. BTW, whats the difference between Suse pro and opensuse?
Regards,
NMK.
