According to the documentation, Yast isnt the default
package management tool anymore.

Thank you both. My problem seems to be a bit more that that. I cannot start Online Update configuration, Installation Source or Software Management. It did work soon after my upgrade from 10.0 but now it seems be dead.
I managed to find out that a package called libzypp-..... is causing a conflict when trying to update the system with boting from the DVD. I could not resolve this conflict as selecting delete package did not work.
Seems like some expert removal of this package is required to heal my wounds
