Hi
p3scan is a mail proxy server , which can be
used along with spamassassin and Anti Virus ( I am
using clamAV ), the link to p3scan is

U can set up P3scan , where u do not have any
control on the mail server , as for the end users it
is transparent , they do not need to change any
settings on the mail client ( if u do not prefer to
use IPTables , then u need to change the client
settings , based on url )
Only changes u need to do is at the gateway
and on the p3scan , on the GW u need to redirect the
traffic with port 110 to 8110 , the p3scan machine
which will take the packets and check the mails for
spam and viruses .
I wanted to let the list know where I did go
wrong
It took some time to configure the GW
settings , I was usign DNAT , using this traffic( for
port 110 ) was diverted to port 8110 of the p3scan .
The results of tcpdump confirm it . But it took time
for me to realize that DNAT was confusing the p3scan ,
then I used iproute2 setup, this saved me
I am next step is to do a stress
test for the P3scan using spam and virus infected
mails
will be posting to the list about the
stress test result
