IBM iSeries AS400 System Specialist.
We are looking for an experienced AS400 Systems Administrator to join a small team providing technical expertise for iSeries AS400 gained in a multi-Server environment. As well as providing in depth technical support and configuration (2nd Level), you will be involved in developing and maintaining the infrastructure (including documentation, procedures, version control) and disaster recovery issues. You will be reporting to the CTO and will have the responsibility of directing and managing junior staff. In addition to your expertise with AS400 Systems Administration, they would like you to have good RDBMS (ideally DB2) experience, TCP/IP. Exposure to core banking applications can be a distinct advantage. This ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator able to work in a high pressure environment.
Hands-on IT Manager/ Senior Systems Admin
A seasoned Systems Administrator with Linux experience is required
The Lead SysAdmin is responsible for - maintaining the integrity and security of solaris/linux servers and systems
- Act as a reference point for issues relating to Sunray thin clients and server.
- responsible for the backup and recovery procedure for the data centre
- responsible for supporting all branch systems remotely
- emergency onsite presence as needed to correct any system faliures
- Leads, selects, trains and evaluates system administrators to build internal competency
The Lead SysAdmin must possess extensive experience in UNIX/Linux administration. As new technologies emerge and impact our systems, the Lead SysAdmin is expected to learn these technologies very quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with our systems.
The Lead SysAdmin is a key technical resource for other Senior Staff, providing advice, training, and technical support for various projects. In addition, the Lead SysAdmin works closely with professional technical staff in the Information Technologies (IT) management team in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development. The Lead SysAdmin is largely responsible for determining the direction of technical developments within Residential Computing and overseeing implementation by its operational staff.

new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance; good problem solver
