At some point, looking at the lowest common denominator would be nice at
least for reliable transmission of the Pilot tones, hence Pilot tones
are usually transmitted at Pie/2 BPSK
But again as advised usually, any higher level modulation/protocol
should probably have a fallback.

Inherent simplicity at base protocols is usually tried for negotiations,
rather than a complex conjugate of the higher order protocols. Again 4
streams is nothing, as it is just normal multiplexing, normally we can
do a lot , but just limited by Shannon's theorem.
