That broadcast address didn't just appear, it's always there, it's
standard network topology. Just for fun though, how did you "happen to
see" that broadcast address?

Anyway, when you ping a broadcast address every host on your network
should reply. I fail to see the link between your mail server being
mis configured and standard IP network topology.
