I used to have a swine of a time intermittently using SAMBA to share printers 
like that. I ended up 
making the print server emulate lpd and have the windows printers configured to 
print to an lpd 
server. All the problems just blew away. Then again, maybe you have a good 
reason to do it the way 
you are doing it.

Do you *need* to lock down the printer, can you not just give read/write guest 
access and remove all 
authentication ?
