with the rca phono connectors plugging into the speakers ?

If so, a  pait of attenuators like these

https://www.canford.co.uk/Products/20-901_CANFORD-IN-LINE-RCA-PHONO-ATTENUATOR-Phono-in-out

might do the job, or a simple passive pre-amp (which would add an eaxtra
set of cables).

Do it yourself is possible also, if one has the time. inclination and a
few tools.
