Hi all,

One of my 280c's is having a problem where it will run fine on a fully
charged battery for a short while and then it will simply, spontaneously,
turn off and when I put it back on wall power, the date/time are wiped out.
I've reset Power Manager, but to no avail. The battery utilities I
downloaded show the (Type 3) batteries as having 13.75 or so volts, at full
charge, which I *think* isn't too bad. On my other 280c, this is enough to
run for 50-70 minutes. With the one in question, at less than half that,
bang!, it just dies.

So, any more expert opinions than my own? (I've used desktop Macs for 15
years, but these are my first Powerbooks.) Also, if it is the PRAM battery,
I've got 10 days to replace it, since this is the 'puter my daughter is
going off to college with. So, pointers on the best place to get a new one
would be appreciated.

Thanks.

- Eric.
