I just installed a new hard drive (Toshiba MK6411MAT 6.4GB) in my 2300.
Putting it in went without a hitch (thanks to previous posts). Unfortunately
the drive does not appear when launching the Apple disk utility.

As a matter of fact, it does not show up after booting. As in; "This drive
is not a Macintosh formatted drive would you like to initialize it" (or
something to that effect).

I've launched Silverlining Pro 6.1 and it shows the SCSI drive inside my
DuoDock (which I'm booting from). It also shows the ATA 2 Bus but no drive
appears in the list.

I reinstalled the old drive to make sure I didn't damage the cable. It
works.

I put the new drive back in and still nothing. Note, I did install the
jumper that was on the old drive in the same position. I also tried several
other positions as well as no jumper. Nothing.

The drive spins up so I know it's getting power. There isn't any of the
customary "clicks and buzzes" you normally hear when a drive starts though.
Just the spinning up.

Any thought? I intend to call Computer Geeks Tech people but as they are PC
people I don't know that there is much hope.

Please help, any suggestion are most welcome!

Thanks! -Mark
