The AppleStore has restarted its 5300/190 trade-in program, after closing
the program on July 31st, according to the PBZone. The report indicates
that you can receive a new FireWire PowerBook G3/400 for $1799 if you can
"find a PowerBook 5300 or 190 anywhere. You do not have to be the original
owner, and the old PB need not even function." Apple sales is taking calls
at 1-800-MY-APPLE and the program ends August 31st.
Updates: (1) "Just wanted to confirm for you that they are offering the
program. All you need is the serial number when you order, you don't have
to be the original owner, and it doesnt' have to even be functional, it
appears. $1799 FireWire PowerBook, great deal." (2): It's best for them to
call Tech support first at 800 500 7078, instead of the apple store.
