Has anyone ever encountered a minidock where the serial port(s) were
finicky?? I was just hooking up the 280c for my daughter to go to college
with -- i.e., getting it all set up here at home just as it will be in the
dorm so I can handle any last minute problems. Anyway, hook up the
Stylewriter to the dock and on one of my minidocks, the machine hangs. With
the other one, using the printer port, it complains that it can't make the
connection. When I use the modem port on that minidock, it prints OK. And
when it's not attached to the dock, the Stylewriter does fine directly to
the 280c's serial port.

While it is printing OK right now, that's sort of a shaky feeling, sending
her off like that. (Of course, since she'll have ethernet to her room I'm
hoping that she'll be able to print to a shared printer also...)

So, do I have two bum minidocks, or is this something else?? (if they are
bad, it just figures... When I got them I checked the floppy, SCSI, video,
ADB and, of course, power ports. Since I didn't have the printer right in
the room there, I just assumed that if all the other ports were fine, then
the serial ports would be also...

Thanks.

- Eric.
