What???  That's a new one on me!  I've been using Macs for 15 years and I've
heard of or seen quite a few weird things, but I never heard of anyone
trying THAT.  (I've seen folks try that trick w/ ADB, though...)

[As an aside, I've thought that was one danger during the transition to USB,
namely that novices will get hold of older equipment and trying to hot-swap
things on SCSI or serial ports.  None of the Mac media seems to adequately
warn folks that you can't just go 'round hot-swapping things at will.]

No, I was just wondering if this was a known problem with the minidocks or
if anyone had heard of this as a symptom of some other problem.
