MkLinux is cool. My most successful uses of Linux have been as a SMB file server (Windows networking), and a Mail server. You could install Netatalk to have the machine act as a file server for macs. Also, any sort of net server would work well. just be aware of security considerations. Always stay current with the latest errata of the packages you are using. The fact that MkLinux is no longer offically supported makes it a little harder. Also, for Net serving an easier, but less robust, option is the shareware NetPresenz from stairways software. (www.stairways.com) It runs on tops of MacOS and uses Apple Users and Groups for access controll. Those are the guys that brought you glider, BTW...
