I've never used 9.x on a legacy machine; I've had enough troubles trying to
get it to run well on the G4 I have sitting on my desk. Some suggestions if
you folks do run into trouble:
<1> Get rid of FaxSTF in its entirity - including all extensions/control
panels you may find.
<2> Turn off the sleep functions on the energy saver control panel
<3> Disable multiple users
<4> Disable password keychains
<5> Disable software update
If what I'm recommending seems like a generalized procedure to knock OS 9.x
back to its 8.6.1 roots, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. I've done this
and haven't had a crash since I did it. Yes you lose some functionality,
but the reliability you gain back is well worth it.
