Did you install somethign recently? If you did, it may be the problem, a recently
installed item causes a conflict with a previously installed one. Delete the new item
(just use Extension manager to dectivate it if it is an extenion ro control panel)m
restart and see if the problem returns. or maybe it happens if a particular
application is active? You have to establish or rule out that fact.

If none aof the above applies, it is time to do some housekeeping!

1: delete the ""usual suspect" perferences (apple menu Option Prefs, Finder Prefs,
Appleshare Prep). Try this and see if the freezes stop.

2: Zap PRAM, rebuild desktop. Best to do these with TechTool Pro, alternatively use
the barefoot methods: To zap the PRAM restart while holding option-command-P-R; to
rebuild desktop: restart while holding down option-command. The 2400 may go
unstartable for a minute or so after zappring the PRAM, take a few deep breahts and
press the start button later. While you are at it, you can reset the power manager by
holding down the reset button (the tiny longish button on the back panel) for a
minute or so.

See if this works (use the system for a while)

3: If no improvement, run TechTool for a full system check + see if the HD needs
defragmenting.

4: If no improvement, reinstall the syetem (clean reinstall)

5: If no improvement, as I once had this problem, it turned out that my processor was
dying. Then you need to buy a new one.
