Hi You may remember me asking about digital video and fire wire cards on the 2400. No one had had any experience so I went ahead and got the cardbus upgrade and a firewire card (thanks MCE) The good news is that iMovie works great. playback is not as smooth as my G4 but I can still do everything. Only drawback is the size of the screen effects how many clips you can bring in and 800x600 is minimum iMovie runs on. It wont run at 1000s of colors either so an external monitor is no use. I guess that screen size would limit Final Cut Pro as well. Ill try anyway and give you feedback. The trick with these firewire cards is to insert and remove them with the machine on and not let it sleep or shutdown with one in. so put it in, do some video, eject it, No problem. I have to eject my global village combo card first as well or it will freak out. The extensions seem to be sucking memory, system is running over 30mb now which is way worse than the 15-20 I had before. Even with all firewire ones turned off it seems to be heavy. Does cardbus enabling effect system memory? cant see how? Anyway just thought I would let you know digital video works on the ol 2400!!.
