I am wondering what the max size HD a 2300 can accommodate (both data and
physical dimensions)

I am setting up an old 2300 as an MP3 server. When I acquired it it had a 6
gig drive in it and the case was half open and held closed with tape as the
drive seemed too big!

So I got a replacement drive from MCE which also furnished me with new
brackets allowing the connection of contemporary drives to the 2300 sub
frame.

Upon opening it up to put this drive in I found that the existing drive
didn't fit as it didn't fit to the original 2300 brackets. If I used the new
brackets from MCE I could get this drive to fit with still approximately a
3rd of the space available.

So the 6gig drive I got from MCE wasn't necessary. This drive is by Hitachi
and about half the thickness of the existing one. I could probably fit two
of these in the drive space inside the 2300.

My question is now I have these brackets what are the dimensions and
capacity of the biggest drive possible? I guess the type is relevant as
well. i.e. IDE or SCUSI.

Any experiences or knowledge would be appreciated, and anyone want to make
an offer an a thin 6 gig drive (excluding the brackets needed for a 2300)

Thanks
