Aw, geez! *You* feel old? I got a Fat Mac, Imagewriter and ext. floppy
drive in the summer of '85. I did the briefing charts for my thesis defense
on it and had it in my shared office at school. Even went to Radio Shack,
got the right shape connector and hacked the terminal line drop to my desk
and was logging into the department computers. Printed my thesis in
nroff/troff using MacTerminal to log in. (Also some late hours playing
Rogue on the Unix machines.) And using the Internet (usenet newsgroups,
e-mail, and ftp were mostly what there was that was really useful). Started
to learn C using Aztec C. A friend even wrote an orbital mechanics sim,
including relativistic corrections, that ran faster on the Fat Mac than it
did on the (admittedly loaded down) PDP/11 and VAXen the department had.

Ah, memories. Surprised I still have them at my age. :-) (41, in case
you're wondering...)

- Eric.
