Yes, the iBook uses the new IBM 750Cx instead of a Motorola 750- see
http://www.chips.ibm.com:80/products/powerpc/chips/750cx_pb.pdf

For the roadmap, see
http://www.chips.ibm.com:80/products/powerpc/rd_map.pdf

IBM plans to ship 700 MHz 750Cxe's by the first half of next year.

And you're right- I find it interesting that Apple is using an IBM-only
built PPC design in the iBook, and what until recently was a Motorola-only
built PPC design in the G4's.

Hi everyone,

Slightly off topic, but...

I noticed on Apple's site that it says that this 256k cache runs at the same

speed as the CPU. I know on some other chips (Intel etc.) that the cache
runs at half the CPU speed, is this the case with the previous iBook / Pismo

/ etc??? Someone mentioned that this is the IBM PPC chip rather than the
Motarola? Is that right?
