No I have never seen such an animal. I had a few run-ins with the powr manager + a 
processor death but never this recurring problem. 

Makes me think that perhaps the system is corrupted, I would diagnose the hell of the 
PB, run techTool, check everything, do clean reinstall, delete desktop file etc. 

And I would also get a new PRAM battery for the 2400. Whihc may not be such an easy 
thing to do any more.
