I have a Duo 280 with an internal Express Modem, which I operate sans dock, for on-the-road email, only. Recently, Ive been seeing an odd happening when I attempt to go online. It goes like this: The modem dials normally and the familiar modem tones and squelch sounds appear. But, instead of connecting, a box appears saying: Unable to connect to a remote modem. I hit Okay and a second box appears saying: Invalid Port Name. Hit Okay, go back to square one and repeat the dial-up procedure. Oddly, the venerable and faithful 280 invariably effects an online connection on the second go-around. But it is annoying to have to go thru the procedure a second time. As background, the Modem Panel is set for Internal Modem and the Express Modem panel is set for Use Express Modem. Any/all advice appreciated.
