What system are you running?
This is from a Duo280C system 7.6.1
Express Fax folder:
(in applications folder) contains:
Fax cover folder, Fax Terminal, Fax Viewer, Fax Waiting to be sent folder,
My First Fax, Received Fax Documents Folder, Sent Fax Documents Folder.
Extentions Folder: Apple Modem Tool, Express Modem Tool, GEO Port Extention,
GEO Port Telecom, GEO Telecom Adapter.
Control Panels:
Express Modem
Setting: In control Pannel- Power book setup: Modem setting is Normal,
Setting: In control Pannel- Express Modem Control pannel - ON
If you are asked for modem try using default settings first, if that fail
then try apple express modem I.
Give that a shot.
Sounds like we have different software!!!! But Mine Works Fine in or out of
the dock!
Don't dump yours just tinker with the settings if all else fails save the
old stuff to a disk and install new goodies.

Subject: [Duo2400] Duo 280
Hey Duo Listers. I published this on the List a few
days ago but have had no replies and know there is
someone out there with the needed expertise. How
about some help....I'm heading for the Old Country and
would like to get this problem squared away before
taking off. Thanks. jkc
----------------------
I have a Duo 280 with an internal Express Modem, which
I operate sans dock, for on-the-road email, only.
Recently, Ive been seeing an odd happening when I
attempt to go online. It goes like this:
The modem dials normally and the familiar modem tones
and squelch sounds appear. But, instead of
connecting, a box appears saying:
Unable to connect to a remote modem.
I hit Okay and a second box appears saying:
Invalid Port Name.
Hit Okay, go back to square one and repeat the
dial-up procedure.
Oddly, the faithful 280 invariably effects an online
connection on the second go-around. But it is annoying
to have to go thru the procedure a second time.
As background, the Modem Panel is set for Internal
Modem and the Express Modem panel is set for Use
Express Modem.
Any/all advice appreciated.
JKC
