I am glad someone finally "labeled" the phenomena of distorted video
exporting as "dancing Leggo blocks" as that is what is appears to be.

I am running iMovie on my pb 2400/112/400mhz/10gig/RATOC firewire with a Sony
PC 1 mini DV camcorder. Everything works fine for importing, editing, etc.,
but I can not export back to the camcorder without the "dancing leggo blocks"
showing on the video portion with the sound also distorted.

As many other listers have mentioned I have gone through the process of
eliminating all but the essential extensions, optimized the 10 gig internal
hard drive; tried other software packages:

iMovie 1 and 2 with upgrades
Edit DV unplugged as well as full version
Adobe Premiere

all to no avail.

What did work was to take my Sony PC 1 camera (along with firewire cable) to
Comp USA, plug into their demo 400 mhz iMac; opened iMovie 2; uploaded a clip
of my movie; played it back and then exported back to my Sony PC 1 and
everything worked fine!

As much as I hate to admit it, I am afraid my pb 2400, even with the 400mhz
upgrade, won't hack the exporting of DV without loss of frames as indicated
by the "dancing Leggo blocks."

I am currently bidding on an iMac 500mhz (30 gig) SE DV, 256mb on ebay as,
presumably, that will resolve my DV exporting problems, not to mention, with
the 128 ATI built in rage card, I can use Final Cut Pro.
