Thanks to everyone who chimed in to my first post in getting my 2300 on-line. After some serious digging around, (lots of stuff on this machine) I was able to locate FreePPP (version 2.5) and my TCP control panel, (1.1.2) and set them up to what I thought was the correct settings for dialing into my Earthlink account. (For some reason, FreePPP is named FreePPPSetup on my machine -- does that matter?) The result...much closer from where I was, but now, I'm not making that final connection. The GV modem dials OK, I get a baud rate, then "logging on"...but the final step doesn't take place. I now get the error message: "A connection as established but is not a reliable connection and was terminated." I tried to connect several more times and each time get the same error message. What's going on now? TCP settings are... connect via: FreePPP Configure: using PPP server Additional search domais: earthlink.net As for FreePPP Setup... Modem setup: connected to Printer-Modem Port modem init string settings: autodetect init string Accounts: local Earthlink phone number connect: directly Earthlink user name & password Connection: Port Speed: 57600 bps Flow Control: CTS & RTS (DTR) Options: Domain name: I'm not used (seriously!) Primary DNS: Me either Secondary DNS: Ditto IP address: assigned by PPP server Awaiting your expertise... MGK FYI --Laurent is correct in that the current versions of Remote Access do indeed dialup and establish a PPP session.
