Got me on that one. There is a chip w/serial number in the battery (this is
how it tracks the reconditioning process) but I am not sure what limits this
causes. Specifically, if there are any limits on charging/life related to
the info in the chip. I haven't a Duo at present and have no Type I
batteries to experiment on, so I'll have to leave that to someone else!
However, there ARE high cap. cells available in the AA format, so at least
you could increase the run time versus a stock batt.
